Simple & Easy Breakfast Idea

Need a quick healthy meal or snack for your kids or yourself? Try my simple smoothie recipe.

My kids have a favorite smoothie that is so easy to make. Smoothies are delicious and my kids love them. Well, who am I kidding, I love them too. Moms need simple and healthy too. Smoothies are a quick, easy delicious breakfast, snack, or light lunch. I love to feed my kids all the healthy food combined in a smoothie. It is so filling it can be a light meal in itself.

My kids were introduced to smoothies at a school event where the teachers, staff, and parent volunteers served smoothies to the kids prior to a big test. Ever since that day, my kids ask for smoothies frequently and I am happy to fix them this healthy food.

Kids favoritie smoothie recipe for breakfast, brunch, or snack. An easy recipe kids can make on their own in the kitchen. A fast easy recipe for breakfast before school.

Tips for Making Smoothies:

Use Frozen Fruits

I like to use frozen fruits for several reasons. I can keep the frozen fruits on hand in the freezer so whenever we want to make a smoothie we can. Also, the frozen fruits make the smoothie the perfect cold temperature. As my son says, “It’s perfectly cold and but not too cold to give me a brain freeze.” I love serving him this favorite smoothie because it puts a big smile on his face. A sweet drink they love that is also healthy is exactly what I look for when feeding my kids. Mom win!

Keep it Simple: This Recipe is so Easy

This smoothie recipe is so easy kids can even make it themselves. My son pulls out the food processor and piles in all the ingredients himself to make himself a smoothie. This is a great way to get kids involved in the kitchen and start to learn some self-care in preparing their own food.

Make it With Different Flavored Yogurt to Get a New Flavor

Smoothies are versatile. Switch up the yogurt for a slightly different flavor combo. Try raspberry, blueberry, mixed berry, key lime pie, you name it, try it out and you can create some yummy combos!

Try Different Juices

There are so many different types of juice out there for sale. Try different ones to add a different flavor. My favorites are apple juice and orange juice. But don’t stop there! Try all the combos available.

Ingredients for this Kids Favorite Smoothie Recipe

Use these five healthy ingredients to make your smoothie:

  • yogurt (this recipe uses strawberry yogurt but any flavor would work)
  • frozen blueberries
  • frozen strawberries
  • fresh banana
  • apple juice

Eat well and enjoy life!

I hope you and your child enjoy this yummy smoothie! For more yummy breakfast and drink recipes, check out these ideas:

Notes

Why I make Smoothies

As a mom, I love to feed my kids smoothies for several reasons. My kids get protein and calcium from the yogurt, They get a variety of fruits all in one glass plus vitamins and fiber. I can keep the fruits in the freezer long term for convenience. It's also a healthy breakfast I can make quickly in the morning before school or as an after school snack.

Other Recipe Ideas

We also like to try different fruits or other flavored yogurts in the smoothies. Another favorite smoothie in our house substitutes vanilla yogurt for the strawberry yogurt in this recipe. You could also experiment with different fruit juices like orange juice or grape juice. It's so good the kids feel like they are eating a treat. I love that!
I hope you and your kids love this easy recipe that provides a healthy food in a fast manner. If you like this recipe, pin it for later. Enjoy!

Lovely color and awesome flavors made this smoothie very popular with my kids and their little friends. I packed them in go-to cups and offered it as treats on a play date at a local park. They enjoyed it so much that the moms wanted the recipe and I pointed them in your direction.
