This post has a link to my article “My Week Long Baby” about my story of early miscarriage on Her View From Home (scroll down for the link).

Miscarriage is so common. I find when talking with a group of women, many voice their experience with this tragedy. My miscarriage happened very early on in the pregnancy, but my brain still built so many plans for that baby. My brain went crazy with many plans for when my baby would arrive. I made so many imaginary play interactions of my first two kids with that baby in that short week.

October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. October 15th is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. Women from all over recognize their loss, honor, and remember the memories of their lost babies by lighting a candle at 7 pm on October 15th for an hour. I did this for the first time this year and it felt so good to recognize my loss. I only knew of this baby for a week, but I still mourned the loss of that baby.

I wrote an essay for Her View From Home called “My Week Long Baby”. Here is an excerpt of it..

I had a miscarriage between my second and third full term pregnancies. I had only known for a week that I was pregnant before I miscarried. But in that short week I had so many thoughts of my baby. I made a mental plan in that short week of how we’d set up our house to welcome the new life. I had so many thoughts of us as a family of five. I never thought I would lose that baby because my first two pregnancies resulted in full term healthy babies. I didn’t expect that loss to be my reality.

I look forward to telling my baby in heaven how I missed him or her and how even though I only knew for a week, I still love him or her.

I am truly sorrow for anyone who has had a miscarriage or lost an infant. My God bless you, your family, and your baby.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5
