Does your family enjoy biking? Mine sure does and my boys adore biking. They are always going out and about on their bikes for fun. Bike safety is important to me as a mom and as a nurse, so I feel extra confident as a parent when I have a first aid bag clipped on my bike. I love the idea of being prepared for emergencies when out biking with my boys on bicycling trips. I enjoy having a Helpful Practical First Aid Bag for Safer Biking along for the ride. SJ Works has created first aid bags that are perfect for safer biking.

First Aid Bag for a Bicycle: 2 Styles I Love
SJ Works makes two amazing bicycle first aid kits where all the contents are neatly tucked inside a compact bag that clips onto a bar on a bike. I love having the ability to help my kids with a potential health problem while biking, and these bags assist me to do this. Bike injuries happen, especially with kids. Many times my boys have fallen off a bike at home, but now, I feel super confident going out and about on long bike trips with my kids when I have a fantastic first aid bag along for the ride:)
In the past, I would keep a mini first aid kit in my diaper bag, but with older kids, a diaper bag is no longer needed so I bring a backpack instead. By using this first aid bag pouch that directly clips onto my bike, it frees up more room in the backpack for extra waters, sunscreen, and snacks. A win-win all around for me!
I am very fortunate to have tried out two styles of first aid kit bags from SJ Works: the Saddle Pouch Bicycle First Aid Kit and the Bicycle First Aid Kit Smart Phone Solution. I love both of them for different reasons.
1. Saddle Pouch Bicycle First Aid Kit & Giveaway
This Saddle Pouch bag is perfect because it is so compact and loaded with emergency supplies. I clipped it to the top tube (crossbar) of my bike frame. It worked out fantastically for me in that my legs did not hit the bag as I pedaled. This was important to me because I didn’t want to bike with my knees smacking into a pouch all the time. The pouch has multiple adjustable velcro straps also to fit different sized bike frame bars or even attach it beneath the bike seat.
Inside the pouch is the following helpful and practical components:
- American Red Cross First Aid Guide
- antiseptic towelettes
- bandages of various sizes
- butterfly wound closures
- sterile pads and sponges
- sterile eye pad
- pressure bandages
- triangular bandage
- first aid tape roll
- emergency blanket
- reflect strip
- bike light
The bag is easily reloadable with new supplies. I probably would stick in a small tube of antibiotic ointment in the bag as well, for just in case;) The mom in me would also add a few ibuprofen pills, a small tube of sunscreen, and lip balm to the bag–so, yes, there is room to add a small amount of items.
LOVE IT!
This bag takes away the panic I feel as a mom when I see one of my kids get hurt, and I realize I don’t have a single first aid item with me. With this bag, I’m prepared!
I love how the bike light is easily added or removed from a bike so I can easily put it on one of my kids’ bikes, or back on my own.
This bag has a nicely tapered shape as well.

2. Bicycle First Aid Kid Smart Phone Solution
This first aid bag comes with first aid supplies and a see-through smartphone pouch. I love the pouch because it keeps my phone in a safer spot than in my pocket, where I always worry it will fall out while I’m biking. If I don’t bring a backpack while bicycling, this pouch works out perfectly to keep my phone safe. There is also a slot for an earphone cord.
This first aid bag attaches to bars beneath the bike seat itself, which makes it neatly out of my sight. Or, attach it to the top tube of the bike frame (crossbar) as shown below in the photos. Either way, it is secured in a spot where my legs won’t hit it, which I like a lot.
First Aid Supplies:
The bag contains the same first aid supplies as listed above in the Saddle Pouch bag, but it also contains a headphone extension cord.
I would rather have a first aid bag along and not use it than wish I had one along, especially when this little first aid kit pouch is so easily and non-intrusively addable to a bike. I didn’t even notice the bag was there when riding with it under the bike seat.
See picture below to see how nicely it fits on the crossbar.

Other Uses for this First Aid Bag
So, my boys are past the stroller stage now, but, I really wish I would have had a little bag like this for the stroller when my kids were younger. It would attach wonderfully to a stroller to give extra assistance for moms and dads when kids skin their knees or get a scrape while out on a walk with a stroller. It would be ideal to bring along to attach to a stroller while traveling on family vacations as well.
I believe the first aid bag would attach nicely to a wagon handle as well. This makes it perfect for walks or festivals where a family might bring a wagon.
Whether my kids get a scrape or injury at the playground, park, or while biking, with this first aid bag on my bike, I am prepared to treat their injury. I have the means to make them comfortable, healthy, and safer while biking. That is what is important to me as a mom…being there for my kids when they need me.

I hate to say this BUT I have NEVER thought of this before! What a fabulous idea. Anytime you go you should be equipped with one of these for emergencies.
Isn’t it such a great idea!! I love this idea too and it’s so simple and easy to do with this little kit. I love the idea of being prepared when out biking with my boys because falls and injuries can happen anywhere, at any time!! Thanks:)
I never thought to bring a first aid kid on our bike rides and I can’t even give you a good excuse as to why! I need to make one stat.
I love her idea also! Her kits are perfect. Enjoy biking with your kiddos!
What a smart idea. We all ride bikes and will be putting together our first aid bags this week.
I love her idea too! So great for bicycling, especially with kids. Thanks!
We haven’t ventured into biking yet with our 4 y/o twins. This is such great info for us!
Have fun when you go! I think a first aid bag is super important for kids just learning to ride too, especially. Plus, it’s nice to have along for scrapes or injuries at your destination on a bike ride too. Thanks!
This is a great product. My son is a pretty nervous rider. I think he would feel better knowing he is equipped with supplies.
Yes, I totally agree. And with kids, they always seem to be getting scraped up, so I love having the supplies there for the ride, and for the ride destination in case I need it. Thanks!!
So important to think of these simple safety tips to help us in time of need. Thanks Julie for doing it for me. 😊 I am certainly going to follow suit and definitely check this out.
Yes, I totally agree, simple safety tips can make a huge difference in a time of need. Hope you found this post helpful:) Thanks!
I can’t wait to go on family bike rides. This safety kit would really be useful.
I love this little pouch! I even use it as a little purse for my phone and any other small items I might need while biking or heading to the local gas station to buy a treat with my kids. Since it’s packed with first aid emergency supplies, I feel even better about being out and about with my boys. Thanks!!
This is such a great idea, I am super clumsy… I haven’t ridden a bike in so long. I need to get back on one!
Biking is fun and great exercise. Hope you enjoy your ride:) Thanks!
What a fantastic idea for the saddle pouch kit with cell phone pocket! I am buying this for my kids bikes this weekend!
I adore the cell phone pouch! I use it whenever we are biking, in fact, I sneak little items like money for the gas station to buy a treat while biking with my boys, chapstick, etc. It’s absolutely perfect! It contains supplies for an emergency with a little room left over to be a bit of a bike purse! It’s genius!
Perfect idea!! The kit is very useful.
I know, I love it so much!! Thanks for your comment, I think every mama (and dad) needs this on their bike for when kids skin their knees, fall on their bike, or run too fast at the park and fall down. It’s a genius idea! Plus, I slip my phone in there too and money if we plan to stop at the gas station for a snack. Thanks:) Hope this post helped you out:)
what a great idea, very useful
I totally agree! So perfect for being prepared for accidents while biking with kids. Thank you!!
