I have three boys. Those three boys of mine have fallen in love with hammocks. They each have one it’s the latest fave item at our house. This hammock is an easy-to-setup Portable Kids Hammock for the House, Backyard, and Camping. I can’t wait to share this awesome (and inexpensive) hammock with you!

As a mom, I adore these hammocks for several reasons: they are easy to set up and take down, functional, and promote relaxation. Plus, look at that smile! It’s gold!!! Mom gold that is…
Why are these reasons to be a hammock owner important? Coming at ya as a mom, I’ll tell you why.
I love it when the kids have something they can set up and takedown on their own and be independent (probably age 8+ for setting it up on their own). This increases their self-confidence (especially for younger kiddos).
Parents: check for safety to ensure ropes are tied tight enough to prevent it from falling under the child’s weight.
Hammocks rock! Because kids need time for self-care and relaxation leading to stress-reduction as much as adults do in our fast-paced world. Plus, I love how it is mobile and can be taken anywhere, like when we go camping.
Also, they are inexpensive and that’s always a plus!
A Kids Hammock that is Easy to Setup & Takedown
This hammock is easy to set up. Even my youngest has learned how to set it up all on his own. It is simple with removable tie straps that can be tied in a triple knot to be secured, or add your own rope to make it longer (we did this while camping due to the spacing of trees).
The takedown process is easy too. Simply untie the knots and stuff the whole hammock, and ties plus carabiners, inside the bag that is attached to the hammock itself. This is a giant plus for me as a mom to have the bag attached to the actual hammock so it doesn’t get lost. The ties are not attached, but they fit inside the bag and could be easily replaced, so being separate is not a big deal.
My kids have moved their hammocks around throughout the days between hanging on the play set in the backyard, to hanging inside the house on the stairs railing, and strung off a lofted bed in a bedroom. It can easily be moved from location to location and it is super lightweight. Easy peasy!
A Kids Hammock is Functional for Much Needed Relaxation
Kids are busy. Period. They are dealing with schoolwork, extra-curricular activities like sports and dance, and life is so full sometimes they just need to take some downtime. I find my kids do best when they take some relaxation time every day, but sometimes this is a stretch to accomplish. But a hammock helps.
One lazy day this past summer two of my sons headed out to the backyard with their hammocks and their pet guinea pigs. They strung up their hammocks off the boards surrounding the monkey bars. My boys settled in and relaxed in their hammocks while snuggling their guinea pigs.
They stayed there all afternoon. It was so cute! I loved it that they had so much fun with their little pets. Smiles were caked across their faces as they lounged. As a mom, it made my heart melt and scream with glee to see them so happy.
Hammocks=self-care time for kids!
Soaking up the time for self-care and slowing down is what kids need! These hammocks hold up to 400 pounds, so even moms and dads can sneak a turn;) I love that idea!
Don’t worry, the guinea pigs were safe and happy, I was out there too and I handed them their piggies:) once they were in the hammocks.
A Kids Hammock can Help Induce More Reading Time
This summer getting a hammock prompted my son to want to buy a book. He’s not a big reader so I was super excited to hear him actually want to pick out a book so that he could read it in his new hammock. A mom win for sure! It’s true, hammocks make reading more fun!
This hammock works perfectly for reading in the backyard, in a bedroom, or while camping too. When rest and relaxation equals reading time, this mama is jumping for joy (avid reader myself and currently trying to get a book published of my own:)
Listening to Music in a Kids Hammocks is Very Relaxing!
The hammocks are also a great place for kids to close their eyes and listen to music. I’m finding as my kids get older they are really starting to enjoy music. I played music for them all the time as small kids, but they are now coming into their own for choosing their own favorite songs. Whether it’s from their phone, iPod, or a speaker, music enhances the relaxing hammock experience.
Take these Portable Kids Hammocks Camping
I find these lightweight hammocks are very compact and so very easy to bring along on trips. They stuff easily into the attached pouch bag, plus their compact size makes them easy to stick in the car. Take it along to grandma and grandpa’s house!
We went camping this summer and my boys brought their hammocks. My husband helped them string them up between trees on the campsite. We had to use extra long ropes because some of the trees were too far apart for the little ropes it came with. They had so much fun trying to hang them around the campsite. These hammocks are literally perfect for camping.
Kids Can Lounge While Interacting with Friends
How can a hammock help kids interact with friends you ask?
Well, it is the age of kids with phones so they can talk on the phone or text while relaxing in their hammocks (mine love doing this). They can Facetime friends from the fun location of lounging in their hammocks. They have whole texting conversations (yes, texting is still a conversation, my fellow parents).
Kids can hang up hammocks next to each other when they hang out and talk while they chill out. This is a fave activity when a friend is over.
Just make sure they are tied tight enough so it doesn’t fall.
Hang a Kids Hammock in the House
So, we have one hanging off the railing on the landing of our stairs going up. Yes, it’s in the house.
My kids rigged it to work by wrapping part of the hammock around the railing of the stairs and then tying it. They kept testing it out to see how many times it needed to be wrapped so the hammock hung in the air. It was a simple trial and error process until they found the right amount to wrap around the railing.
Depending on the sturdiness of your railing, the hammock and stair railing idea might work for older kids too. Even my teenage son can sit in his hammock when it’s tied to the stair railing in our house.
My middle son has his hammock hanging off his lofted bed. This is also a great spot to relax, read, text friends, study flashcards/notecards, or take a nap.
Their next mission is to construct a structure to hang the hammock in the living room. I’m guessing it will probably be a free-standing structure made from wood. This will be great for when it’s cold outside in the winter so they can still use their hammocks.
A Kids Hammock Makes a Great Christmas Gift and Birthday Present
Kids would love to get a hammock as a gift. It’s a gift they can keep for years and use in many ways for lounging and relaxing. A gift they will love to use for sure:)
Would also be great for a cabin or next to a lake or ocean for relaxing and enjoying the gorgeous water view. Hmm…maybe I should add this to my Christmas wish list! (Mom’s need self-care too!)
