What is an Air Fryer?

An air fryer is used to cook food. It’s a small kitchen appliance. It is a great addition to a kitchen for making side dishes, main dishes, desserts, bread, meats, and vegetables.

I recently acquired an air fryer and I’m so in love with using it:) I love how quickly it heats up. We have used it to make frozen breaded items like chicken nuggets and breaded mozzarella sticks, fresh cut french fries, delicata squash (a small winter squash), and egg dishes, but it can make so much more, more than I ever expected like meats, bread/muffins, cake, potatoes, vegetables, egg rolls, breakfast dishes, and more.

I have the XL size air fryer and it’s perfect for making fries for a family of five. I love how little oil it uses to make the fries too, making the fries more healthy.

Ways to Eat this Tasty Egg Dish

Enjoy this air fryer egg recipe topped with sour cream and pickled jalapeños with a side of salsa and tortilla chips. Or, add this egg patty to a bun to eat it as a satisfying egg sandwich. I used a square ceramic dish because that is what I have in my kitchen, but a circular one would work great too. Using the small ceramic dish ensures the ingredients will be shaped like a patty.

As someone who works from home, I love this recipe because I can quickly make a hot meal for myself with very little effort. This recipe is designed to make one serving, however, repeat it as many times as needed. If I’m making this air fryer egg dish for my whole family or guests, I simply keep making them, adding the already baked eggs to a crockpot on low to keep them warm until it’s time to serve. Keeping them warm in a covered dish works well too.

This easy air fryer egg bake can easily be made on busy mornings or for simple quick meals on the weekend. It’s ideal. Plus, it’s pretty tasty as a leftover as well, simply store it in the fridge and pop it in the microwave to warm it up.

Ingredients Needed to Make this Air Fryer Egg Recipe

There aren’t many ingredients needed to make this tasty air fryer egg dish. It’s super simple without many ingredients, there are just five. Plus, since only cooking spray is used for the pan, this air fryer egg recipe is healthier than when using a frying pan with butter or oil. The simple ingredients are:

  • tomatoes with chilies (canned, drained)
  • egg (I love to use free-range chicken eggs)
  • shredded Quesadilla cheese (scroll down to see my favorite kind)
  • sea salt
  • black pepper

Directions to Make this Air Fryer Egg

Spray a ceramic dish with cooking spray. Add 1/4 c. tomatoes and chilies from a can, pre-drained, to the dish. Crack 1 egg into the dish. Break the egg with a fork and stir. Top with 1/4 c. shredded Quesadilla cheese. Sprinkle with sea salt and black pepper as desired. Bake at 320° for 12 minutes until the top is golden. Use a spatula to remove the patty from the dish. So easy!
