Looking for holiday gift ideas for 9-year-old boys? Check out my suggestions:) I’m a boy mom times three, so I’ve had lots of experience buying gifts for boys over the years. Kids this age are fun to buy for because they still love toys plus they love active toys, creative toys, and their inquisitive minds still love learning toys as well. I hope you find some great ideas here for the boy in your own life!

List of Gifts for 9-year-old Boys:
My son loves his rip stick. He has two, one for outside and one for inside. Yep, I do mean inside. He zips around the kitchen on it. Having an indoors rip stick is great because it gives him an outlet for pent-up energy, which is especially important in the cold winters.
Circuit Kit Educational Toy
We have this brand of circuit kit and it has brought my son many hours of enjoyment. The booklet that comes with the kit gives many set-ups to build for of fun.
Thinking about summer in the winter! Dreaming of summer and fun pool floats like this one my boys have loved using in our pool
MorfBoard Skate/Scoot Combo
Super fun for hours of playtime that is active and gives them exercise. A great option for young boys to get them outside and active. This is a true kid pleaser!
My boys love this zip line! They have great plans to use it to fall into snow piles in our backyard this winter. This toy brings hours and hours of fun!
Buddy Bumper Ball
This needs no explanation…look how much fun that thing is! Plus, they are wrapped up in air bubbles, protected. A mom’s dream come true! Best for outside though due to the size of it;) Buy more than one so kids can bump in to each and a fall down on purpose just for fun!
So. Many. Legos.To. Choose. From. Seriously, there are so many awesome Legos themes, there is something for everyone’s tastes! We have this werewolf monster one and many, many other Legos. Hours of fun for kids who love to build. Great for hours of fun and improving hand coordination.
This scooter is super fun for kids and great exercise too. The scooter will get them outside to play and off screens, which is what they all need;)
Blow Up Tube for Sledding
Great fun outdoors sledding with this blowup sledding tube! Hours of fun and great exercise too walking back up the hill over and over again after the thrill ride.
I Spy Game
A total favorite at our house for all three of my boys. They are speedy spotters, often quicker than I am at finding the items on the cards. This is a fun activity we do together before bedtime or when it’s rainy outside, or too cold to play outside in the winter.
We love this game at our house. We take it camping, play it at home, on the deck or patio. It’s great fun for multiple ages, including adults. A true fun classic that never gets old year after year.
This game takes a while to set up, but the squeals and laughter it brings from my son make it totally worth it!
Chair or Bean Bag
We have this bean bag with a bed inside. My son sits on this bean bag to watch tv or play a video game every day. It’s a great addition to the living and with a bed inside, it works out perfect for sleepovers too.
Bungee chairs are a comfy and fun addition to a boys’ room or the living room.
There are many styles of Nerf Guns available on the market. We have many styles at our house and the boys just love to play with these toys. Old and young, they are a hit for all!
For listening to music and for fun dance parties in his room or while playing outside or doing crafts.
Water Balloons for Summertime
As a mom, I adore these water balloons because they self-fill. Ha! So awesome! Plus, they are biodegradable so they will eventually break down so no one has to pick them up. Sheer genius! These are great for parties or just for a hot summer afternoon. No explanation needed, boys just love water balloon fights!
Uno Dare Card Game
This is a fun card game with a twist that young boys will love to play. It’s a bit silly which is something they love! They will enjoy playing this with family and friends.
Apples to Apples Junior: The Green One
This is a great family game as well as a game that a group of friends can play. It always creates lots of laughter when we play.
Pie Face Game
This game is so much fun and my boys laugh so hard when they play this game. I won’t play it with them, I don’t want whipped cream all over my face, but they love it and eat it when they get splatted. Super fun game!
DVD Disney bingo
This is a favorite pick at our house when we play a game. We’ve played this game for years and enjoyed it. The little video clips are so fun to watch too.
Any sports gear works great as a gift. Just pick the favorite sport of the young boy and buy sports gear to go with that sport. At our house, my son loves the mini football goal posts.
Snow Block Maker
My son has hours of fun making snow forts using this snow block maker. Boys can get outdoor time and get creative with this snow shaper. It’s great for sand in the summer too.
Boys will love using this snowball maker. It will help the shape snowballs quickly so they can make a pile quick for the big snowball fight with their friends or siblings because chucking snowballs at one’s brother is the most fun activity of all!
Play Snow Tent
This is perfect for a snowball fight shelter! Or, bring it inside and it makes a great reading hangout, my son does this and puts it on the bed and reads in it. It is sold at a very reasonable price. It would be a great addition to an indoor fort too.
Bring it camping in the summer, set it up in the backyard, put in your son’s room or off a loft bed. My son moves it around all on his own and ties the ropes…just make sure he knows how to tie them tight enough so he doesn’t fall. Very lightweight and affordable.
This unique hammock is great for reading books. For ideas of books that 9-year-old boys will love, check out this post: Kid-Approved Favorite Books for 9-year-old Boys.
Make your own Kit
I love to create kits for my kids. Here are some kits I’ve created and given to my boys as gifts over the years.
Inspire creative play time!
Creative free play with craft supplies:
Karate Boards that Kids Kick or Chop to Break
My son used to take karate lessons so he used his Christmas money to buy these boards to practice with and although he no longer takes the karate lessons, he loves to still use these boards. After they are broken apart by a strong force to the center, they can be easily reassembled by sliding one piece into the groove of the other. This is a great way to expend energy and improve both hand-eye coordination and strength. A perfect boredom buster for boys or girls. One person can hold up the boards or they can be placed on something for solo chops.
Minecraft toys are still popular with 9-year-old boys like this TNT block plush. My son has this one and he loves sitting on it while he plays the game of Minecraft on the Xbox. It’s a fun squishy box to sit on!
Star Shower Christmas Decoration to use for a Dance Party
This is a Christmas decoration we put up each year at our house during the holiday season. After the season was over, my son loved to grab it and set it up in his room for a dance party or in the garage to have going while rollerblading. This gives this decoration a dual purpose! It can be a decoration and a toy. However, don’t look directly into the laser because it can hurt your eyes.
Globe Maze Puzzle
This is a perfect holiday gift for kids who like mazes and puzzles. My son can spend hours on the couch occupied with this globe puzzle.
Books: Great Gifts for 9-year-old Boys
Finding books kids are willing to read is the key to keeping them reading. I find with my boys if I help them find books they enjoy, they are so much more willing, and excited even, to read. These books for boys are great ideas for Christmas presents. Kid-approved!
Well, to boys, farts are funny, all day every day all year long. It never gets old. If you can handle the sounds, get them this gun and they will love it!
I hope you have found this list of gifts for 9-year-old boys useful:) I also hope your son, grandson, nephew, or friend has hours of enjoyment from the gifts! Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and have a wonderful New Year!
