I enjoy working out, but sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I hate it. The conundrum of everyone, right? But, if I can find a good show to watch while working out, it makes the workout so much more tolerable and even enjoyable. I need to work out because I need it mentally, physically, and for a break as a busy work at home mom (aka all the work is never done and I can always do more). I’m sharing my exercise hacks with all you women out there who want to workout, but find it to be another blasted chore that needs to get done. Here are my top Best Shows for Women to Watch While on the Treadmill. Shows that make the task of working out way more enticing;)

Best shows for women while on the treadmill. Make exercising better by watching a good show. Self-care is so important. Exercise tips for women.
The show on my phone? It’s “The 100”

Exercise…make it better, these shows might even make it fun for you because you can get some self-care time alone. Grab your phone, earbuds, and a subscription to an online media service (my fave is Netflix).

Some of these shows for women are oldies, but fantastic; some are new and awesome, and still making new shows. These are my favorite shows, the ones that when I watch them, the workout literally flies by. That is definitely something I need!

A good show will help you actually look forward to your workout time, and that’s a major win. Entertain yourself while you work out your bod and feel refreshed, rejuvenated, and alive. All good things!

I have watched all twenty-eight of these shows. I really enjoyed watching them, I hope you do too!

Earbuds, a necessity!

Shows for Women I Recommend with Science Fiction Themes:

Of course, these shows are also packed with drama, love, relationships, family, and friendships. There are struggles and betrayals, joys and sorrows. They are shows I shake my head at after watching it and say, “Damn, that was good!” I’m eagerly awaiting finishing “iZombie”, that is my current go to show for the treadmill.

Plus, I’m chomping at the bit for the next season of “The 100” and “Stranger Things”.

“The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals” were so good, I so wish I could watch them again for the first time. Stellar shows!

  • The 100
  • Once Upon a Time
  • The Vampire Diaries
  • iZombie (good adult humor in this one, like sometimes I just flat out LOL)
  • The Originals
  • Stranger Things
  • Lost
  • The X-files

Best Shows for Women with Lots of Drama

Some of these suggestions are shows that were made several years ago, some are more current, but all are awesome, stupendous, amazing, and unforgettable (ie. addictive, but in a good way;) Some of  my faves!

  • Friends
  • Will and Grace
  • Picket Fences
  • Northern Exposure
  • Sex and the City
  • ER
  • Grey’s Anatomy
  • Dharma and Greg
  • How to Get Away with Murder
  • Ally McBeal
  • Homeland
  • The Blacklist
  • Party of Five
  • Charmed (I’m a sucker for this show!)

Shows for Women that are Edgier, yet I LOVED Watching Them:

Parts of these shows listed below scared the absolute crap out of me. No lie. And, at times they grossed me out, but the drama is unparalleled and the wow factor is GIANT! I’ve had zombie apocalypse dreams as a result, not fun to endure or wake up from, but the drama and the humanity in all three of these shows are huge.

For these shows, think hot mess with a glorious streak, absolute worse case scenarios mixed with love, dedication, and true caring with a mix of horrid shock. Brutality is a part of these shows, but the characters are also so dang loveable (now that’s good writing!).

AKA: good stuff!

  • The Walking Dead
  • Dexter
  • Breaking Bad

Want Really Edgy?

Now, some women will hate this show. I cringed at some parts, for sure, but I loved the overall theme, the romance, the drama and the absolute unbreakable glue that holds members of families together, whether that bond is genetic or by choice that ties that family together. Want to try really edgy? Try:

  • Sons of Anarchy

Shows with Crime Solving

  • Criminal Minds
  • NCIS

Take Time for Self-Care Activities

Taking time for self-care activities is totally a necessity for women, especially she is also a mother. We need to take time for ourselves. We need to clear our minds to be good moms, wives, friends. Make it a priority, I’ve gone through periods of my life where I sucked at self-care. When I make time for self-care, I am so much happier, so much better equipped to do what I need to do for my kids, family, and my business.

Take it…take time for yourself moms, all women, you deserve it! Make it a daily occurrence to give yourself a little bit of time for self-care, and hopefully, you will have the time to enjoy a show during your workout;) A good show and a good workout will make you feel amazing!!

I find that watching any franchise of the real housewives just passes the time for me…I can do cardio for 40 minutes no problem when I have something entertaining to watch!

Exactly! Having a show to watch makes the 40 minutes fly by and gets your mind off of your own life for a while. It’s a great way to exercise! Thank you:)
