As an affiliate with Simply Earth, I’m privy to their tips on how to make a good skin scrub. I followed their basic formula and came up with an awesome DIY sugar scrub I totally love. This skin scrub allows me to pamper myself and enjoy a very luxurious shower. I love how this skin scrub makes my skin feel while in the shower, the aromas I enjoy while using it, and I adore how soft it leaves my skin. I don’t know what is recommended, but I’ve used this scrub for three to four days in a row without a problem. Today I used it again and my skin feels so amazing! What a glorious shower I when I use this scrub:)
This scrub feels awesome to hand scrub into your skin and the aroma is just delicious amazing. YUM! After I use the skin scrub, I always smell my skin and keep touching it because it’s just so wonderfully soft and scrumptious smelling after using it. It’s a true treat!
5 Ingredients Needed for the DIY Sugar Scrub
The ingredients needed to make this recipe are all normal household food products plus two essential oils. The cocoa powder helps prevent the signs of aging, plus it makes the scrub smell wonderful. The essential oils used are mandarin and orange so the delicious smell the scrub gives off is a yummy chocolate orange aroma. It smells good enough to eat, but don’t eat it! LOL!
The ingredients are common and cheap. When you buy an essential oil bottle, it will last for a very long time as you only use a small number of drops at a time. So, this scrub is pretty cheap to make.
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 2 Tbsp. cocoa, 100% unsweetened cocoa powder
- 8 drops Mandarin essential oil
- 15 drops orange essential oil
Directions:
Combine the sugar, olive oil, and cocoa powder in a bowl and stir. Add the mandarin essential oil drops and orange essential oil drops and stir. It will separate, just stir it before using it each time.
Do not allow water to fall into the scrub as this will dissolve the sugar and wreck it. I set the bowl just outside the door shower on the floor where water spray can’t reach it when using it in the shower. To prevent my fingers from adding water, I dry my hands on the towel I hang on the shower door, then use a spoon to scoop some scrub out and drop the dollop on my hand. I just do this several times in a row as I’m coating my body so that I can get enough to scrub all over with it.
Using it in the bath is easier obviously as the bowl is easily kept more separate from the water in a bath setting.
I keep the sugar scrub on my bathroom counter in a covered ceramic pot. Keeping it the bathroom is helpful because then it’s easy to remember to use it because it’s already there. I’m not sure what the shelf life is, but I tend to use it all up within five days or so within making it.
It looks like sludge-slop, but it’s really very amazing! Amazing feeling, smelling, and scrubbing…
