Refreshing Homemade Foot Scrub for Summer Feet

I play hard in the summer, I don’t know about you, and it always takes it’s toll on my feet. From all the chlorine and rough surfaces going barefoot, I get cracked heels and rough skin on the bottoms of my feet. We swim a lot being pool owners so the chlorine takes its toll my my skin too. I needed a solution to prevent the painful cracks in my heels, which also trap unsightly dirt. So, I created a refreshing homemade foot scrub for summer feet. It’s absolutely fantastic!

Refreshing Homemade Foot Scrub for Tired Worn out Summer feet

This homemade foot scrub uses all-natural ingredients so it’s non-toxic. It’s great for exfoliation and creates soft skin. I love how the scrub uses a natural ingredient, white sugar, as it’s the scrubbing agent. It’s so great for getting dirt out of the grooves and cracks on the soles and toes of my feet. I often will get dirt embedded in my skin from working in my garden, especially if I wear my Crocs with no socks on, somehow the dirt sneaks in making my feet ugly.

Summer can extra be tough on skin with all the barefoot walking, traversing the rough surfaces like concrete, stepping stones, and the chlorine from swimming, skin can take a beating. I often get rough thick callouses on the soles of my feet, especially my heels. Painful cracks in my heels have also plagued me in summer. But since I’ve started using sugar scrubs, this doesn’t happen to me anymore.

Ingredients Needed for This Homemade Foot Scrub

The ingredients needed to make this simple foot scrub include the following items:

  • 1 cup plain white sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon almond oil
  • 10 drops tea tree essential oil
  • 3 drops peppermint essential oil

Directions for Making This Homemade Foot Scrub

This is so very easy to make! Add 1 cup of sugar to a bowl. To a second smaller bowl, add 1 Tablespoon almond oil, 10 drops tea tree essential oil, and 3 drops peppermint essential oil and stir. Pour the oil mixture over the sugar and stir and mash until the oil seems to be incorporated fully. It will be a pretty white color and sparkling crystalline in nature. Store it in a sealed container and avoid getting any water in it. (note: I use a spoon rather than my hands to get the scrub out.)

How to Use the Skin Scrub

To use this foot scrub, simply wet your feet and scoop up a small handful of the scrub using a spoon or scoop. Scrub it on your foot on all sides and surfaces. Massage your feet. Let sit if desired. Then rinse and dry feet.

Self-Care Time for Your Feet

This is such a luxurious foot scrub, and honestly very cheap to make. I love the aroma of mint that comes off the scrub as I massage it into my feet. It’s very uplifting and refreshing, great for a pick me up for tired summer feet.

It’s great on hot summer afternoons when your feet just feel tired or you need something, or a moment, to delight your skin and your senses.

I adore how this scrub uplifts me after a day of walking around barefoot or swimming. Try it out. It will leave your skin feeling soft and refreshed.
