I love to combine foods I love in new recipes, like this one where I combine cheese, Hawaiian bread, ham, and spinach. It’s a delicious easy to make recipe that really celebrates the unique sweet taste of Hawaiian bread while delivering a good amount of protein and spinach. Meat-eaters seem to love ham on Hawaiian bread, so to make this Hawaiian Bread Spinach Quiche a hybrid recipe, I’ve added ham chunks to half the pan. This is the type of recipe that works great for my split table family of vegetarian and meat-eating people. This is an attractive quiche that is super tasty and reminiscent of a Hawaiian bread sandwich.

A Favorite Sandwich Becomes a Sunday Delight!

I love to make this quiche on the weekends for my family. It’s such an easy one and it’s a bit indulgent with the bread and cheese, plus the ham and bacon bits. I can eat way too many pieces of this one! This quiche pairs beautifully with a citrus fruit salad or berry salad. I adore this unique recipe and I hope you and your family do as well:)

Ingredients You Will Need to Make this Hawaiian Bread Spinach Quiche

The ingredients list to make this quiche include:

  • 2 cups packed fresh spinach leaves
  • 1 tablespoon parsley flakes
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 3 tablespoons diced onion
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 sub rolls of Hawaiian bread cut into cubes (about 3 cups)
  • 8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 8 eggs
  • 3 cups skim milk
  • 1 1/2 cups cubed ham (smoked ham is awesome in this recipe as well)
  • 1/4 cup bacon bits
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil

This recipe is great because it’s home cooking for your family made easy! I can whip this recipe up real quick. Have kids help by having them cut up the bread. Watch out! They will be sure to nibble up some bread cubes if they are anything like my kids!

Instructions on how to make this Hawaiian Bread Spinach Quiche

  • First: In a small bowl, combine the parsley flakes, dry mustard, salt, and diced onion. Stir.
  • Second: Combine Hawaiian bread cubes, spinach leaves, mozzarella cheese, and onion mixture from above.
  • Third: Beat eggs with milk in a separate bowl.
  • Fourth: Coat a 9×13 inch glass pan with coconut oil. Spread it around the pan with a paper towel or napkin to cover the bottom and sides of the pan.
  • Fifth: Pour the bread mixture into the already greased pan. Spread the bread out evenly.
  • Sixth: Pour the egg and milk mixture over the bread.
  • Seventh: Add ham chunks into 1/2 of the pan (or more if desired). Press ham into the egg mixture with your fingers or a spoon.
  • Eighth: Sprinkle bacon bits over ham portion.
  • Ninth: Cook quiche uncovered for 55 minutes at 375 degrees. Let the quiche sit for 10 minutes after cooking. Cut and serve.

I love this type of quiche because it’s quick to make and there is no sauteeing of vegetables prior so the prep goes quick. It’s also a fabulous leftover meal as well; it tastes just as good if not better as a leftover. I love easy meals using leftovers, don’t you?

This is a great springtime quiche, especially to serve for an Easter brunch or Mother’s Day brunch. With ham being a popular Easter entree, this quiche fits right in to the American tradition. The recipe also is perfect for a dinner meal. Breakfast for dinner is the best! If your family is like mine, breakfast for dinner is a favorite for all.
