Easy peasy yummy meat for dinner…
This recipe is easily modifiable too if you only need one or two chicken breasts, just reduce the amounts of all the ingredients. If you estimate too much of the breading mixture, it won’t break your heart to toss it out. It’s cheap. Bread crumbs are very low in cost so this is a meal that won’t cost you much to make. The chicken is the most expensive part of course. The herbs and spices needed are ones I almost always have in my cupboard, except for the smoked paprika. I’m loving the smoked paprika and have used it in several recipes already.
I received the smoked paprika from Selefina. We love the smoked paprika! You can find smoked paprika on the Selefina site: smoked paprika I love paprika but smoked paprika is even better! Try it out for yourself:)
Having a good-go-to recipe like this in your back pocket of ideas is wonderful. If you are busy like me, or just want something easy that has a simple prep, this is for you! I love how I don’t need to plan too much ahead of time to prepare this meal, and my family likes it, so it’s a win-win!
Smoked paprika is popular on meats, including grilled meat rubs and BBQ recipes. That’s my next recipe to tackle, a meat rub mix, although I will need my husband’s expertise on that one, he’s the griller at our house. I’m the vegetarian, but I’ve cooked meat for years for my family, but he’s the one who knows about meat rub. Are you in a split table diet home too? What Ingredients are needed for this Breaded Chicken Breast meal?
This is what you will need:
- 3 skinless boneless chicken breasts
- 1 cup plain bread crumbs
- 1 tablespoon dried basil leaves
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano leaves
- 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 1/2 tablespoon dried onions (minced dried onions)
- 1 tablespoon dried chives
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 egg
That’s it! If you are missing any of the herbs, try using a similar one. I’ve also used an Italian seasoning blend to make this recipe with favorable results. My family liked it! I don’t eat chicken, so I have to rely on them to tell me. But the four of them always tell me if they liked it or not. This chicken dinner was a winner!
Directions for How to Make Smoked Paprika and Italian Breaded Chicken Breast
This is so quick to do. It’s basically mixing the herbs and spices with the bread crumbs, stirring well, then dragging the chicken through a beaten egg, then each one is rolled in the bread crumb mixture to make sure it’s fully coated. The olive oil is to grease the pan. I do pile a bit more of the breadcrumb mixture on top of each chicken breast to provide a thicker barrier for the chicken. I’m not sure if it makes a difference, but I did that the first time I made the recipe and since everyone liked it, I just keep it the same.
The breaded chicken breasts are cooked uncovered at 400 degrees for about 45-50 minutes. This of course will depend on how large or small the chicken breasts are. The goal is to get the chicken to an internal temperature of 165 degrees by testing it periodically towards the end of cooking with a meat thermometer.
My husband has a meat thermometer he uses for grilling. It works so well that we now also use it for testing cooked meat temps inside too. This allows for very juicy chicken that doesn’t get dried out.
