Paying Homage to the Kindergarten Teacher

This was originally published on Her View From Home. http://herviewfromhome.com/paying-homage-to-the-kindergarten-teacher/ My youngest is now in kindergarten and I am finally able to volunteer in the classroom.  I am amazed how the teacher commands the room. Here is what I heard, and learned, while volunteering in my son’s kindergarten classroom: “But pink is my favorite!” The kids have opinions about everything they want.  They want a certain color paper. They want to sit on a ... Continue Reading...

Community Building at our Backyard Pool

Community Building at our Backyard Pool

Owning a pool in our backyard is a community blessing. It brings the neighborhood, friends, and family together to make memories and have fun. Having fun together is the ultimate bonding tool, especially when repeated. When it’s summertime, we have pool parties. The kids do flips into the water together. They dare each other to see who can swim underwater the furthest. Teacher’s Gift from God at Work in our Lives

A Teacher's Gift From God at Work in Our Lives: How God uses our Hands to Do Good in the World and We Are So Blessed to Do His Good Work. Thank you, God! A Short Story of Peace, Love, and Christmas Spirit Lead by a Six-Year Old My kindergartner came home from school one day in December and announced that his teacher said she didn’t want a gift for Christmas. I told him I had already bought her a gift card to a restaurant, but he protested with wide six-year old eyes, telling me ... Continue Reading...

An Illegal Hit in Youth Football

An Illegal Hit in Youth Football

The worst case scenario in football, our son was tackled and sustained a concussion. My husband and I watched it happen to our fourth grade son. We saw him slammed into as the other player speared him from the side in an illegal hit leading with his helmet. Our son crumpled to the ground and we could hear him crying from the sidelines. As he sat on the sidelines and watched his team continue the fight without him, he made a choice to go back into the game. A hard game to watch as the parents of ... Continue Reading...
